Nicknames

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I was a baby my mom started calling me "Bird". It stuck and all my birthday cards, gift tags and little love notes from my mom have always said "To: Bird". When Emma Blue became part of our family we noticed very early that she loved to sing and hum constantly so her nickname became "Song Bird".

I remember the day my mom, Song Bird, and I went to the doctors office to have an ultrasound and we found out IT WAS ANOTHER GIRL!!! We all cried; we were so excited. We knew we needed another name to add to our girl squad, so Abbie Cake soon had the nickname of "Sparrow". Because this pregnancy was rougher than the first, we applied the scripture of Matthew 6:26, and 10:29-31. "His eye is on the Sparrow". ~ Civilla Martin

I came across these sweet little birds at Michaels craft store the other day and just could not resist buying them. I plan on painting one for each one of my girl squad to display at my house. I will post pics on the progress later.

Reminds me of my favorite song but I got to add one for mama bird, aka Cinny.

Meaning behind Chirp Love, Art

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I want to share the reason why I titled my blog "Chirp Love, Art" and not City Girl Studios. I started City Girl Studios back in 2004. I had recently moved from Jacksonville Florida to Newnan Georgia. While living in Florida I picked up painting. Although I have always dabbed in some form of art since I was able to hold a crayon I found a new love in paint. I started out painting my cats in bright colors of blues, pinks, and purples. Then evolved into whimsical houses, birds, owls and anything that  made me smile. In the last couple of years birds have captured my heart. My nickname is "Bird and my girls have bird related nicknames too, but that is another post for another day.

Because I feel God has given me a story to share of Hope I felt the need to start a blog. I had to do a lot of thinking on what I wanted the title to be because I wanted it to capture who I am but in just a few words. My goal is to show people that I am real. I have dealt with fear, anger, hopelessness, loss, love, joy, and hope. My God has brought me through rough patches and blessed me beyond my comprehension with a strong marriage, beautiful girls, special friends and a wonderful family that has healed from past hurts.

I needed the title to combine sharing my thoughts and dreams to my art which captures all those thoughts and dreams. So because my nickname is "Bird" it came to me that "Chirp Love, Art was the perfect title.

Big Girl Panties

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2-15-2012
Ok, so I had to get up, put my big girl panties on and take the day by the horns. Oh, maybe thats not the saying or maybe a few sayings jumbled together but you get the picture. These last few weeks have had some hard knocks.

It is easy to get discouraged when you feel slammed in all different directions. However, I woke up with a renewed attitude today. My God is good and He has a bigger plan. Although I do not see it or even understand why I have to take the uncomfortable or inconveniant journey He sees the bigger picture.

My hope for the day is Jeremaih 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you.

I hope my hope rubs off on ya!

Ps. Spring is a coming!!!!

Day trip to my favorite craft supply stores

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is just something about a day trip to my favorite craft stores to lift my spirits. The gloomy winter days steal my sunshine and I need a project high. Oh, and the best part is since I homeschool, my "girl squad" comes along for the fun.

I just can't help it. I get so excited about the little things. I plan on stocking up on new paintbrushes even though I have a hard time parting with the old ones so I normally find some purpose for them. : )

This is my cat Peppy sitting in the window soaking up the much needed sun. I think he was starting to feel cabin feaver too. Yes, a cat can feel that way even if he is strictly a indoor cat. Just ask him.
I can't wait to see what kind of goodies and surprises I run into. Hopefully something totally unexpected. Maybe a cool button or a scrap of material I just have to have or even some cool new paint pens. I need to paint. It is in my being to do something creative. LOL

Come on SPRING!!!!!

Valentines Party

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Follow Me on Pinterest

Since all the decorations for Christmas had to come down it felt kinda lonely looking in the house. I am not much of a cold weather person and neither are my girls. We prefer lots of sun! lol We needed a way to enjoy the rest of winter so we spruced up the house with Valentines stuff. Since we are homeschooling we decided to make lots of our decorations and then it led into the fact that we needed to have a little girls Valentines Day party. Then that expanded to include two very handsome boys to the list. HA! So yesterday was our big day. It was so much fun. I felt so blessed to be surrounded by some of my closest friends and their precious children. Emma was in Valentines heaven with all of her sweet friends.
Each child was to make or buy a Valentines card for each guest. Emma and I got out my glitter, glue, tissue paper, and buttons to make our cards. (If you know me well you know we love glitter and it is found through out the house daily) When the kids arrived they put their cards into the gift bags Emma and I had gotten for each child. You could see how proud each child was because before they would put them in the bags they had to show each other what they made/bought for their friends. Kinda gave away the surprise but ohhhhh was it sweet!
I think I have overdone it on the pictures but I just could not resist. I wanted a picture of each kiddo and maybe got carried away. OH WELL!!!
